So I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this pattern of 7 notes used, but I have seen a few people refer to a sticking of R L L or L R R as a pugada. Pretty sure they’re only using the term pugada as a mnemonic device, but it makes it kind of easier to count your creation. Since paradiddle pugada lines up syllables to strokes. Just a thought, anyways cool video

Septadiddle. I've also discovered this exact pattern a few years ago. I use it as one of a few septuplet templates for keeping track of the subdivisions. There's also a repeating hand pattern that's RllRRll. And the classic RlRlRll. As well as the alternating RLRllrr this one is based on the sticking for the five stroke roll with two singles added to it. The possibilities are vast if you start to orchestrate them around the kit and using them as ostinattos to solo over. Cheers!

Yeah, some self-proclaimed music experts I know, give me sh*t for listening to pop songs. But there is a lot of work put into them, and a lot of it is done by a team of really good musicians. Even if the music is simple from a theory standpoint, then they usually make up for it on the production side.

I'm diggin these coordination exercises. I just started playing about 2 months ago, started with a practice pad then got a snare and kick practice pad and then hi hats. Modest to say the least but enough to work on these exercises. Over the next couple of months I'll be on the hunt for a crash and ride and keep them tucked away until I have enough space to get a shell pack and set up the whole kit. I think being limited to the 3 basic pieces for the next few months will benefit me in that I will be focused more on developing pocket and won't be distracted by other cool things to bang on.
